Ain't Paddy's Day: Concert + Celtic Open Session

You've done it! Mostly! You've survived St. Paddy's day. Before we give way to Easter, come send off St Paddy's with us at the Fiction Beer company with Dál Riada on Saturday March 21st. Enjoy some great beer and good tunes to wind things down.

Dal Riada is an instrumental, traditional Celtic Music band based in the Denver. Their focus is on Irish and Scottish dance music with an occasional Quebecois tune, with a occasional folk song thrown in for good measure. Tonight's performing members are Susan Newton (fiddle, voice) and Brinton Macomb (guitar, mandolin), and Chris Peck (bodhran, Irish banjo), but often as not, Dal Riada will invite other local Celtic musicians and dear friends to sit in. The band regularly plays local establishments and private parties and its members have traveled together on musical journeys throughout Ireland and Scotland.

There will be an Open Session afterwards, so bring your instrument and we’ll also be celebrating being able to do this on a Saturday again!

Book Release: A Question of Family by Francois Bereaud

Join us in the Fiction taproom to celebrate the release of Francois Bereaud's new book, A Question of Family. He'll have copies of his book for sale, will be happy to sign them, and there will be a Q&A session.

About Francois:
He's the author of San Diego Stories, published in September 2024 by Cowboy Jamboree Press. His first novel, A Question of Family, is available from Stanchion Press. He serves as the fiction editor at The Twin Bill and read for Porcupine Literary. In his “real life”, he's a husband, dad, San Diego community college math professor, mentor in the Congolese refugee community, mountain biker, and mediocre hockey player.

About the book:
From François Bereaud, the acclaimed writer of San Diego Stories, comes a novel told in stories that span eras. Meet Walter, Claire, Grace, and Michael, a family in some state of dissolution. This is a story of family, of heartbreak and grace. Smutty Book Club

April is autism awareness month, so we're taking part by reading a book with a neurodivergent main character: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang.

We'll meet to discuss on Monday, April 6th at 7pm.

As always, Spicy Librarian is our recommended bookstore to grab your copy.

The Fiction Beer Company Smutty Book Club meets on the first Monday of every month. We discuss our current reads, our darkest desires, and share a beverage (or two) with fellow smut enthusiasts. Be sure to check out the Facebook page to join the community and to keep up to date on the monthly polls!

About the Book:
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases—a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice—with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

Books and stickers will be available for purchase. Grab your copy, get it signed, and have a chat!

About Bellamy:
Bellamy West (she/they) writes fun, flirty bi+ romance for readers who love found family banter, abundant queer joy, and happy endings for all. About Accounting for Love:
Being stuck in LA traffic is the worst—until a handsome man in the next car over shows you that love is worth the detour.

Taylor Thomas, a vision in a business suit, is a gay accountant who takes everything too seriously. He doesn’t depend on anyone, and there’s a lot on his plate between tax season and helping plan his sister’s wedding.

He needs more fun in his life, and Gabriel is the man for the job.

Gabriel Rivera is the good-time guy. A bisexual botanist who talks to his plants, has too many hobbies, and ditches work to hang with his queer rec volleyball team. Gabriel isn’t looking for a serious relationship, but when he spots the hottie in the car beside him on the highway, he can’t resist shooting his shot.

As things heat up between Taylor and Gabriel, their insecurities become relationship roadblocks. Will love become the liability they have always believed it to be, or can it become an asset?

Smutty Book Club

This month, we're diving into a matchmaking ritual at the palace between Tem and the Serpent King Caspen. She (and we as readers) are in for a wild ride with this one!

We'll meet to discuss on Monday, March 2nd at 7pm.

From internet sensation Lindsay Straube comes the first in a searing romantasy series where survival demands submission, and desire is the most dangerous game of all.

Temperance Verus has never been kissed—not exactly ideal for a girl competing in the palace's most closely watched matchmaking ritual. Every year, a select group is invited to bond with the realm's magical basilisks and train in the art of charm, poise, and influence. The prize? A chance to win the prince's favor—and a life of privilege.

Tem expects rules, gowns, and etiquette.

She doesn't expect her assigned partner to be Caspen—the Serpent King, commanding, mysterious, and anything but safe. As he pushes her to unlock the strength she never knew she had, Tem finds herself drawn into something deeper, stranger, and far more powerful than royal approval.

But not all bonds are built for the court, and some secrets are meant to break them.

Readers call it "feral, spicy, and unforgettably bold." For fans of morally grey monsters, slow—burn fantasy romance, and stories that subvert the fairytale script.

The Fae Cart • Romantasy Bookshop Pop-Up

Putting a cap on February with one final romance-themed event. The Fae Cart will be in our taproom from 3-6pm on Saturday, February 28th with a selection of blind dates with a book, as well as a few unwrapped books!

Swing by to sip on a brew while you browse romantasy books - and chat with Mary Beth (she's lovely)!

From Mary Beth:
Hi, I’m Mary Beth! I am the founder of The Fae Cart, a traveling romantasy bookshop. Books have always been my safe place. They’ve given me magic, escape, and hope when life felt heavy. My heart has always been in helping people feel seen, safe, and whole, and The Fae Cart is an extension of that calling.

This isn’t just a bookshop to me. It’s a space where stories meet soul work, where healing can happen between the pages, and where community can be built one enchanted book at a time. I want The Fae Cart to feel like a cozy, regulating refuge for everyone who visits. And this is just the beginning! My bigger dream is to create a space that holds both: a bookshop filled with magic and story, and a community space where circles, breathwork, and connection can unfold. Whether at a blind date with a book pop-up or one day in a brick-and-mortar shop, my vision is to bring these worlds together so people can feel safe, inspired, and at home.

Bridgerton Trivia

Dearest Gentle Reader,

It is with the greatest delight (and a most tantalizing flutter of anticipation) that this author announces an evening of utmost distinction and delicious scandal: Bridgerton Themed Trivia. Prepare yourselves to step into a world of silken gowns, sharp glances exchanged across the ballroom, and secrets whispered behind gloved hands.

On this most noteworthy occasion, guests shall test their knowledge of the ton’s finest romances, most infamous intrigues, and the dazzling lives of the Bridgerton family themselves. Only the sharpest minds—and those with a keen eye for drama—will prevail, for every question may prove as perilous as a misplaced dance card.

Prizes, one hears, await those whose wit shines brighter than a debutante’s diamonds. Whether you arrive eager for victory or merely for amusement, rest assured: there will be gossip, glory, and perhaps a surprise or two that even this author did not foresee.

Sam’s Crumb Cart, modest in name yet scandalously generous in spirit, is dispensing baked goods so divine they could incite even the most disciplined of society to abandon all restraint. Should one wish to witness this delicious affair firsthand, know that the cart shall make its appearance between the most bewitching hours of 6–8pm—though this author cautions that arriving fashionably late may result in nothing more than crumbs and regret.

So polish your intellect, don your best Regency-inspired finery (optional, but strongly encouraged and rewarded with a free shot of beer), and remember—nothing escapes notice in high society.

Yours truly,
Lady Whistledown
