Twenty Bellows Anthology Release

We're excited to host Twenty Bellows in our taproom for the release of their latest all-fiction anthology: Horizons. Swing by from 3-5pm on July 18th to meet authors featured in the anthology (all of whom are from Colorado or Wyoming), grab a copy of your own, and get it signed!

About the book:
HORIZONS: Expeditions in Short Fiction, Volume Two invites readers to step beyond the known and into a collection where imagination stretches, bends, and redefines the limits of experience. In this second volume, Twenty Bellows expands its reach, bringing together stories that move from the deeply personal to the wildly speculative, each one charting its own course across the terrain of what it means to be human.

Within these pages, you’ll encounter voices that are intimate, strange, and unforgettable. A chance encounter reveals unexpected truths. Grief reshapes reality in quiet, devastating ways. Love appears in forms both tender and unsettling. Elsewhere, entire worlds tilt, time fractures, nature makes itself heard, and survival becomes the only constant. Whether grounded in realism or drifting into the surreal, each story offers a new perspective, asking readers to look closer, think deeper, and feel more fully.

This anthology weaves together a wide range of styles and themes into a cohesive and compelling whole. The result is a collection that is as thought-provoking as it is immersive. A testament to the creativity and craft of Western writers.

Featuring fiction by: A.C. Koch, Abigail Ladd, Anthony Dominic, Avien Howell, Collin Irish, Cortney Collins, E.M. Noller, Jonathan Rutigliano, Leni Checkas, Marissa Forbes, Melanie Malaspina, P.M. Castle, Rachel Horak Dempsey, Tanya Swindell, and V.L. Andromeda.

Book Club

We went full dino for our July book club theme - and the final pick is The Paleontologist by Luke Dumas!

About the book:
A haunted paleontologist returns to the museum where his sister was abducted years earlier and is faced with a terrifying and murderous spirit in this chilling novel.

Curator of paleontology Dr. Simon Nealy never expected to return to his Pennsylvania hometown, let alone the Hawthorne Museum of Natural History. He was just a boy when his six-year-old sister, Morgan, was abducted from the museum under his watch, and the guilt has haunted Simon ever since. After a recent breakup and the death of the aunt who raised him, Simon feels drawn back to the place where Morgan vanished, in search of the bones they never found.

But from the moment he arrives, things aren’t what he expected. The Hawthorne is a crumbling ruin, still closed amid the ongoing pandemic, and plummeting toward financial catastrophe. Worse, Simon begins seeing and hearing things he can’t explain. Strange animal sounds. Bloody footprints that no living creature could have left. A prehistoric killer looming in the shadows of the museum. Terrified he’s losing his grasp on reality, Simon turns to the handwritten research diaries of his predecessor and uncovers a blood-soaked mystery 150 million years in the making that could be the answer to everything.

We're welcoming local author Eric Schliemann into our taproom for a book signing with his new release, Encroachment. Join us at 5:30pm to meet him, grab a book, and get it signed!

About the book:
Miles Brennan builds a prosperous real estate career by selling the soul of Denver one block at a time. He finds a way to justify every decision he makes, whether it’s demolishing a historic church or displacing long-time residents. Little by little, these underhanded ways push Miles further away from the person he once was. Through it all, he convinces himself that he’s on solid ground. But after a tragic accident, the false life he's constructed finally caves in.

The threat of incarceration sends Miles on the run, forcing him to abandon his career, his pregnant wife, and any chance at redemption. His desperate escape leads him across the southern border.

Surviving the deserts of northern Mexico is only the beginning. Out of his element and desperate, Miles accepts help from a man whose reach and ruthlessness make refusal impossible. This partnership forces Miles to travel onward to Cuba, where, in the silence of his exile, he finally confronts his past. Miles realizes that though there is no promise of freedom, no guarantee he will see his baby, and no assurance of forgiveness, his only choice is to return home.

About the Book:
Reid Durand isn't here to make friends.

Coming from a legacy of hockey greatness, he has games to win and things to prove. With his focus during his first season as a Chicago Rebel on his drive to succeed, every vice is off the table. No booze, no sugar, and definitely no women.

Kennedy Clark is the master of the side hustle.

She'll walk your dog, brew your espresso, and pick up your dry-cleaning, all while rocking it in Warrior pose. Standing still is impossible for her because the moment she starts to slow down, it'll come rushing back in a torrent. The memories. The pain. The heartbreak.

Their meet-cute is more of a freeze-cute. Besides, they already know each other. He's the rude, entitled customer at her coffee shop, or what used to be her coffee shop since she just got fired-because of Mr. Extra Shot Americano himself.

Reid didn't intend to get Kennedy fired.
He didn't intend to rescue a dog after the poor thing ended up in the lake.
And he definitely didn't intend to acquire a new roommate.
A curvy, chatty, tempting roommate.

Now this perfect storm of events are about to wreak havoc on his neatly-ordered life.

Reid Durand isn't here to make friends, and he's certainly not here to lose his heart to a puppy, a team, or a chaos agent like Kennedy. But then we don't always get what we want...

Book Club

In celebration of Pride month, we picked a book with LGBTQ+ themes: This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone.

About the book:
From award-winning authors Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone comes an enthralling, romantic novel spanning time and space about two time-traveling rivals who fall in love and must change the past to ensure their future.

Among the ashes of a dying world, an agent of the Commandment finds a letter. It reads: Burn before reading.

Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, becomes something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future.

Except the discovery of their bond would mean the death of each of them. There’s still a war going on, after all. And someone has to win. That’s how war works, right?

Cowritten by two beloved and award-winning sci-fi writers, This Is How You Lose the Time War is an epic love story spanning time and space.

The Fiction Beer Company Book Club meets on the third Monday of every month at 7pm. We discuss the monthly read, our ever-growing TBR list, and enjoy a beverage (or two) with the company of our fellow bookish nerds. Finishing the book isn’t required, but you’ll just have to live with the spoilers.

Cat Day

Our annual event returns with even MORE feline-friendly fun! Join us all afternoon for cat-themed beer, limited edition glassware, local vendors, and kittens up for adoption.

Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue will be on our patio from 12-3pm with adoptable kittens. If you're interested in adopting, we strongly recommend filling out their application form ahead of the event.

This year's cat beer, a California Common with huckleberry and sage named Feline Sensibilities, will be on tap, and our limited edition glassware goes on sale at noon. Plus, we're donating $2 from each glass sold during Cat Day to Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue!

Kitty Beanz Coffee will have their trailer set up outside, serving up coffee and cat paw cake pops from 12-4pm.

Inside the taproom, browse goodies from vendors from 12-4pm:
- Sam's Crumb Cart serving tasty treats (for humans, not cats)
- Brass Wolf Workshop's wooden wares (coasters, boards, etc)
- Sunshine's Whimsy with cat toys and cat ears
- Hermit and the Moon giving tarot readings with cat themed decks

We'll also be joined by staff from Aurora Cat Hospital & Hotel and CatsOnly!
